Cause i’m leaving on a Jet Plane

I miss you darling and I did you wrong by leaving.  Don’t hold it against me. Just understand that I had to do what I did to see what the rest of the world offered.  I felt like you were getting too clingy, and that I just needed my own space.  But i’ve seen the rest of the world, and I’ve searched far and wide. And babygirl, there ain’t no one as good as you.  I’m coming home in 9 days, and I hope that you’ll embrace me with wide arms as we make passionate love under the blue skies.  Don’t let anyone tell you different cause you’ll always be my number one and I will never leave you again.  You.. complete me.

ANYWAYS.

I’m LEAVING canterbury in 2 hours. i’m reflecting back on my semester here in the UK, and in all honesty, i’ve been waiting to come home for so long.  Don’t get me wrong, I do love traveling and seeing all the beautiful sights.  And being in the UK has certainly helped me grow as an individual.  I don’t regret coming here, and it is an experience i will always cherish.  But, i was just never able to call this place “home,” or at least not to the extent that I refer Irvine or SD. 

Nonetheless, I truly am thankful for the friends that I was able to make here.  It took me a while to get over my insecurities, but i’m so glad that I did.  I wrote this in my EAP scholarship experience letter and I really do mean it: 

“the most important reason why I enjoyed my time here was the bond I developed with my group of traveling friends.  These were the friends that also came from the UC EAP, and that I had met at orientation.  Traveling throughout Europe has been amazing, but it would not have been the same without these specific people.”

10 things i hate about you?

I should be writing my paper, but as usual, i find my mind full of ideaswhen i should be concentrating. so i made this list of thoughts:

1. i’m 20 years old (finally ha), a junior, and i still don’t know what i want to do w. my life.  i thought that coming to the UK and being isolated from sd and irvine would help clear my mind and allow me to understand myself better in regards to what i want to become after school ends. instead, i just find myself thinking about what my goal in jr high / early hs was.. to become a sports writer. but i can’t … because…

2. i suck at writing. well i don’t think im terrible.. just mediocre.. but if you add in the procrastination, the bad grammar fundamentals, lazy revisions, terrible(ness?) at transferring my thoughts into words, and the fact that i can’t spell.. it becomes pretty evident that i’m not so great at writing… which doesn’t float well for me considering that my major, and 80 percent of my future job options, require me to write well…

3. i’m not racist or sexist… but i’m sick of studying about black rights and woman’s rights.  anybody else?

4. okay fine. i am a little bit sexist. (but seriously.. can you really say its sexist when everybody, or at least those who count, agrees that girls are just more likelier to be stupider?) 

5. i’m joking above. i’m not sexist…………. that was just my lame attempt to be funny

6. i find my self in love with bill simmons (if you didn’t know, hes a sports writer for espn). like really.. i find myself craving new podcasts and columns, i love his style of writing, his humor, his analysis (even though he is a boston fan and i don’t agree with a lot of his stuff, it still is refreshing to hear about the lakers/kobe from an outsideperspective), his pop-culture references, and again, his humor. i think this is why i’ve been thinking about becoming a sports writer again.. in short.. i think i developed a man crush of some sort on him 

7. dumb people annoy me. they should annoy you too. (btw there is such a thing as a dumb question)

8. (warning. 8 and 9 are sports related posts so skip if you can’t comprehend information well aka you’re a girl) to all the laker/kobe haters (not saying this to anyone who hates the lakers but to those who attack them): there’s a reason why you guys bash on the lakers, and kobe specifically, when you have any opportunity to, and i could care less for your team. its because the lakers are relevant, going to win, kobe has 5 rings going on 6, and your team isn’t.. unless of course your team is the celtics or heat.. which brings me to my next point..

9. if you became a “fan” of your team because you follow one person, then i don’t care for your opinion.  yeah i’m talking to all the celtics fans and previous cavs but now heat fans. we all live in so cal and i know for sure you guys weren’t cheering for the celtics in 2007 amidst a 20 game losing streak, especially when kobe came into the garden and dropped 40 and the building was chanting mvp for kobe.  But come KG and all of sudden you are a celtics fan.  i think the worst one i heard was “pistons are my favorite because i like rasheed wallace”.   yeah i occasionally root for teams because they have certain individual players and i love seeing these guys play, but i would never say i was a fan of their teams, but rather a fan of the game in general. i love kobe and occasionally have some freaky wet dreams regarding him but its never been a chicken and egg thing/ who came first kobe or the lakers. its always been the lakers. if your favorite team is the direct causation of your favorite player being on that team, it shows me 2 things: A. you probably don’t have much knowledge of the sport so shut up, i don’t care for your opinion, or B. you’re just dumb, so shut up (refer to point 7) i don’t care for your opinion. okay maybe that was a little harsh, and maybe i care a little too much about sports but you get my point. (just reiterating that this isn’t directed to anyone who hates the lakers. the laker-haters who know a lot about basketball aren’t the annoying ones…)

ps. to all you vikings fans out there, this is what you get for signing with the devil and letting him dictate your offseason and direction of your team this year.  fired coach, chaos on the bench, horrible play from the 41 year old devil.. i love it.

10. on a much lighter note, after having watched the 7th movie of harry potter, emma watson is officially in my fab five (you know, the list that couples make allowing them to engage in intercourse with any celebrity on that list)
